GENERAL INFORMATION

LOCATION:

One of Baltimore's newest "hot locations", known as Library Square, in the heart of Patterson Park. The Patterson Park Community Development Corporation was recently granted $500,000 to begin the project. According to the Library Square Charrette Report and Plan, "Library Square is the name of a four-block-long strip of greenspace formed by Linwood Avenue on the east, Fayette Street on the south, Pulaski Highway sloping down on the north. The eastern base of the greenspace is anchored by the Patterson Park branch of the Enoch Pratt library..." The goal is to transform the park area to a beautiful gathering place with a decorative fountain, expanded open space, new trees, lighting, benches, etc. The commercial properties bordering the park along Library Square are projected to feature restaurants, shops, offices, condominiums and apartments. Paca Elementary School at the west end of the project is projected to be rebuilt with beautiful architectural detail and will serve as a model urban school. In all, the project proposes to make the area one of Baltimore's most attractive and neighborhood oriented communities.
