GENERAL INFORMATION
LOCATION & DIRECTIONS:
Prime location, the Greenbrier subdivision is a venerable upscale community in the heart of old Towson. Four of the original houses in the subdivision located along Greenbrier Road, all Dutch colonial styles, were constructed reportedly in circa 1919 for the executives of the Black and Decker Manufacturing Company. These four homes were very well constructed and much larger than most homes within the subdivision. 114 Greenbrier Road was one of those four homes.
The neighborhood is situated just south of the Towson business district and Baltimore County's premier shopping mall, Towson Town Center. The Towson University main entrance is only 4 blocks west of the subject home. Numerous shops, restaurants and eateries, bars and night spots are within walking distance. Public transportation is available along York Road, Hillen Road and Burke Avenue. Goucher College is one mile to the north as well as I-695 (Exit 27 - Dulaney Valley Road). County offices and court houses are located just minutes to the northwest. The Downtown Baltimore business district is only 15 minutes to the south. According to the BCPS web site, the assigned public schools include Pleasant Plains Elementary, Loch Raven Technical Academy (middle school) and Towson High. Nearby private schools include Calvert Hall, The Boys' Latin School of Maryland, Gilman, Bryn Mawr, St. Mary's Seminary, Loyola Blakefield and Friends.
